Security advice to customers - Carry-on baggage restrictions


Passengers travelling to US from Europe / India will be subject to restrictions regarding the carrying of liquids and gels onboard the aircraft.

Carry-on baggage is limited to one small bag. Total dimensions may not exceed 45in/114cm of which each dimension must be no greater than 22in/56cm in length, 18in/45cm in width and 10in/25cm in depth. Only the following liquids/gels are allowed in passenger hand luggage:

  • Small quantities of liquids permitted in hand luggage provided they are submitted separately for inspection at security check points.

    These liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100ml each.

    The containers must be packed in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag that does not exceed 20cm x 20cm
    (8in x 8in) or equivalent to 1ltr (34 fl oz) capacity per passenger.

    All liquids, gels and aerosols in containers larger than the above must be packed in checked baggage.

  • Baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is travelling.
  • Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger ticket.
  • Insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines.
Liquids include:
  • Water and other drinks, soups, syrups
  • Creams, lotions and oils
  • Perfumes
  • Sprays
  • Gels, including hair and shower gels
  • Contents of pressurised containers, including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants
  • Pastes, including toothpaste
  • Liquid-solid mixtures
  • Mascara
  • Any other item of similar consistency
